Already as a child, I was fascinated by creating new things out of broken old bikes. These ideas of recycling and upcycling lie in the core of our brand till this day. In the recent years however, my understanding about materials and their technical and biological cycles progressed very much and broadened my horizon as a designer, but also for our company.
I discovered the Japanese term “Ikigai” and translated it for myself. I have been engaging to learn more about this concept of meaningful purpose and its power and i try to transfer this knowledge to my life as an individual as well as to our company.
Recently I have been making more of a point to spend time alone. Being alone is important for the creation of art.
While modeling, it’s easy to lose track of the little inspiring moments amongst the craziness.
So, I’ve been trying to spend more of my free time with only myself. Sometimes it becomes uncomfortably lonely, but that is what I’m trying to learn how to deal with.
I think that learning how to be alone without becoming lonely is extremely valuable.
My younger brother passed away from cancer about 1.5 years ago. I have 4 young sons and my brothers death caused me to think more carefully about my health.
I started to do Crossfit about 1.5 years ago and I am much stronger and more physically fit than I was in my twenties.
